Jonathan Jasper Wright Institute for the Study of Southern African American History, Culture and Policy
Anticipated Output:
The anticipated output of the Institute is as follows:
- Faculty Fellows will produce individual scholarly publications centered around the goals of both Claflin University and the Institute in the following forms: book reviews, articles in peer-reviewed journals, edited compilations/collections/books, single or multi-authored books.
- The Institute will host annual academic conferences in spring inviting academic scholars to present papers related to the interdisciplinary study of southern African American history, culture and policy.
- Every three years, the Institute will edit and publish select papers from its annual conference.
- The Institute will publish scholarship resulting from its ongoing and achievable program of interdisciplinary research.
- The Institute will prepare informed responses to issues of national, regional and local importance related to southern African American history, culture and policy.
- The Institute will secure grants and funding beyond the University to assist with its activities and program of interdisciplinary research.
- To hold weekly on-going collaborative, planning and discussion sessions as part of the Institute’s think tank.
