On behalf of the Center for Professional and Continuing Studies and Graduate Programs, I extend a personal welcome to you and thank you for visiting our Web site.
Serving you in meeting your Continuing Education needs is the primary goal of the Center’s staff. We are committed to ensuring your satisfaction and success in our programs.
About the Center
The Center provides a range of learning opportunities for adults through evening classes on campuses at Claflin University in Orangeburg and in West Columbia, Fort Jackson, Aiken and Beaufort. The Center’s programs are structured so that in as little as 18 months students are awarded fully accredited bachelor's degrees. Adult students are offered degrees in three programs:
Organizational Management,
Sociology and Criminal Justice Administration and
Education.
These degrees qualify graduates to pursue a variety of career opportunities as business owners, teachers, professors, senior law enforcement officials, company and corporate managers, bankers, counselors and health care administrators, just to name a few.
The Center works with each adult student individually in customizing a structured, supportive and encouraging environment. Students meet in small class groups to ensure sufficient one-on-one learning and to achieve each student’s individual goals and objectives, including accelerated learning.
About Our Students
Claflin University’s degree completion programs are designed for non-traditional students 22 years of age and older. Many of our students are busy working adults who want to be more qualified and competitive in today’s job market. These are individuals who understand that higher education, especially a four-year college degree, gives them professional status and a major step up in earning a higher salary, securing stable employment and having a wider range of career options. A number of our graduates also go on to earn graduate degrees. Some are even invited to teach in the Center’s programs!
Achieving Your Goals
National census studies prove that individuals with college degrees, on average, earn double the annual salary of persons without college degrees. For example, a high school graduate can expect to earn, on average, $1.2 million over his or her working life. Those with bachelor’s degrees average $2.1 million in earnings. And people with a master’s degree average $2.5 million over their working lives.
In addition to better employment opportunities and higher wages, most of our adult students aspire to complete their university degrees so that they can have the satisfaction of knowing they have excelled in academic programs offered through Claflin University, one of the country’s premier institutions of higher education.
