    Claflin University students Kimesha Cooper of Hemingway, S.C., and Kareem Heslop of Orangeburg are among 83 HBCU All-Stars being recognized by the White House Initiative on Historically Black College and Universities (WHIHBCUs) for their accomplishments in academics, leadership, and civic engagement. Claflin leads with two of the six HBCU All-Stars attending institutions in South Carolina.

  • Claflin Welcomes Class of 2019

    “My experience so far at Claflin has been very good – I love Claflin so much,” said incoming freshman Malik Washington from Charleston, S.C. “It's been very informative and I've learned a lot. I'm looking forward to the next four years." Washington was one of 427 freshmen Claflin University welcomed to campus this weekend during the beginning of New Student Orientation. The Class of 2019 features a diverse group of students representing every region of the United States and seven countries. This year’s freshmen are some of the best and brightest including high school valedictorians and salutatorians, 28 Rudolph Canzatar/ James E. Clyburn scholars and high achieving students from across the nation.

  • Claflin Presents Higher Education Partnership with Brazil to Columbia World Affairs Council

    Claflin University President Henry N. Tisdale’s goal of increasing global awareness for the University was vividly articulated during his recent presentation to the Columbia (S.C.) World Affairs Council. Dr. Tisdale and Dr. Karl Wright, provost and chief academic officer at Claflin, provided an overview of the University’s partnerships with eight Brazilian universities.
