Immersion research in writing is among my interdisciplinary interests, as demonstrated in my novella, Attorney at Large, which is forthcoming in 2012 from Main Street Rag Publishing. The book also reflects my research interests in gender studies and intersections of law and literature. I am an attorney, now teaching in Politics and Justice Studies as well as English. I practiced primarily in the areas of family and juvenile law before joining academia. My environmental writing also demonstrates immersion research, including recent prairie-centered research, resulting in essays published in American Highways and by the National Park Service (see http://www.nps.gov/heho/ supportyourpark/artist-in-residence-program.htm). Another is forthcoming in Big Muddy: A Journal of the Mississippi River Valley. With the help of a student research assistant, I am designing an environmental, nature, and science writing class. My literary nonfiction, fiction, and poetry appear in many publications.
