Claflin Captures Four Set Win Over Paine

 

Orangeburg, SC- Claflin University (10-6) (8-6) avenged an earlier season loss to Paine College, Wednesday evening with a four set win 25-19, 16-25, 27-25, 25-20, at the Jonas T. Kennedy Health and Physical Education Center.  The victory helped the  Pantherettes  stay within striking distance of division leading Albany State.  The Pantherettes will host Albany in their next home match Monday October 12, 2009.  But before that match-up the Pantherettes will take the road to Atlanta and face the Lady Panthers of Clark-Atlanta University, Sunday October 11, 2009, at 2:00 pm. 

The Lady Lions were led by Victoria Claytor with a game high 19 kills.  Janae’ Kearse followed with 10 kills and 13 digs.  Marquita Josey helped the offense with 18 assists.

There were five big performers for the Pantherettes this evening, with Deisha Rivers and Faith Simmons providing 11 kills each, as Toi Haynes-Shelman added 10 kills, 38 assists, and 13 digs. Jessica Myles and Tashia Stewart ended the evening with 10 digs each.

The Pantherettes will return to action Sunday October 11, 2009, at Clark-Atlanta with a 2:00 pm. start.
