The Orangeburg Office of Emergency Services has advised that no winter weather is forecasted for Orangeburg/Calhoun Counties. Temperatures will begin to drop to freezing around 7 p.m. The low temperature will be 21 degrees. Please exercise caution while driving.

Writing Center

The Writing Center, located in the Grace Thomas Kennedy Building, room 228, is a free resource for honing writing proficiency.

Tutor helping students in Writing CenterTrained Peer Writing Consultants help writers at any stage of the writing process, from prewriting to polishing. During consultations, we help writers learn to analyze, question, and discuss their writing and encourage experimentation. Consultants engage writers in conversation about ideas and provide feedback to help them clarify their thoughts and make informed decisions about their own writing. Ms. Candace Kelly, Coordinator of the Writing Center

Ms. Candace C. KellyMs. Candace C. Kelly earned her Master of Arts in Writing at Coastal Carolina University and has taught Freshman Composition I & II at Coastal Carolina University and Horry Georgetown Technical College. Her writing center experience, however, began as a freshman at Winston-Salem State University. She has a passion for writing and learning she hopes is infectious as she strives to help students catch up, keep up, and excel no matter their comfort level with composition.
