Accreditation

Claflin University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award baccalaureate and master's degrees. The University is approved by the University Senate of the United Methodist Church for listing as a United Methodist Church related institution. 

• Programs in the School of Education are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP) and by the South Carolina Department of Education. 
  
• Programs in the School of Business Administration are nationally accredited by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) to offer the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and in Organizational Management. 
• The Claflin University Department of Music is an accredited institutional member of the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM).
  
• The Claflin University Department of Chemistry is recognized by the United States American Chemical Society (ACS) as offering ACS Approved Degree Programs.
  
• Claflin University's Undergraduate Program in Computer Science is accredited by the Computing Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET).
  
• The baccalaureate degree program in nursing (RN to BSN) at Claflin University is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (http://www.ccneaccreditation.org).

SACSCOC Decennial Reaffirmation Plan of Action

Every ten years, all accredited colleges in the southern states must be reaffirmed to demonstrate that they continue to meet the accreditation standards of the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. Claflin University was first accredited by SACS in 1948. The next reaffirmation is 2032.

SACSCOC reaffirmed Claflin University’s accreditation on December 6, 2022. The University maintains the standards specified by "The Principles of Accreditation" and notifies SACSCOC of all substantive changes.
