Students with high scholastic achievement are listed on the Dean’s List or Honor Roll following the semester in which the achievement was attained. These students are divided into three groups:
The President's Honor List
Students who have earned a minimum of 12 semester hours in a semester and who have a scholastic G.P.A. of 4.00 for that semester.
The Dean's List
Students who have earned a minimum of 12 semester hours in a semester, who have a scholastic G.P.A. of 3.50 to 3.99 for that semester and who have not received a course grade below “C” in that semester.
The Honor Roll
Students who have earned a minimum of 12 semester hours in a semester, who have a scholastic G.P.A. of 3.00 to 3.49 for that semester and who have not received a course grade below “C” in that semester.
Honors at Graduation
The following distinctions of high honor are conferred at graduation:
Summa Cum Laude: 3.90 – 4.00 GPA
Magna Cum Laude: 3.75 – 3.89 GPA
Cum Laude: 3.50 – 3.74 GPA
Honors for Transfer Students
Transfer or Continuing Education Students who enter with advanced standing and who have completed a minimum of sixty (60) hours at Claflin University are eligible for graduation with Magna Cum Laude or Cum Laude honors under the same grade-point ratio required of regular students.
Academic Achievement
The President’s List: 4.00 GPA
The Dean’s List: 3.50 - 3.99 GPA
The Honor Roll: 3.00 - 3.49 GPA
All honors lists are based upon semester/term GPA
