Dr. Friggita Johnson

Dr. Friggita Johnson is passionate about preparing teacher candidates as leaders, reflective practitioners, and moral service providers. She is committed to using research-validated practices in education to improve student outcomes.

Biography

Dr. Friggita Johnson, a native of India, currently serves as Assistant Professor of Education at Claflin University in Orangeburg, South Carolina. She holds her South Carolina Teaching Licensure in learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, elementary education, and gifted and talented endorsement. She is also a South Carolina Evaluator certified by the National Institute for Excellence in Teaching. Her teaching philosophy focusses on personal interaction with students, teaching to engage diversity, and connecting research to practice.

Dr. Johnson has presented at numerous international, national, regional, and state conferences in the United States, including the International Council for Exceptional Children, Council of Learning Disabilities, National Association for the Education of Young Children, Pacific Coast Research Conference, Office of Special Education Services 15th Annual Research to Practice Conference, Science Education for Students with Disabilities Conference, and Southeastern Postsecondary Education Alliance. She was also an invited speaker for an international webinar recognized by the Rehabilitation Council of India to speak on Supporting Special Education Professionals and Students During the Covid-19 Crisis. She also provides guest lectures for students in the PG and Research Department of Rehabilitation Science in India. Her articles are published in the Journal of Special Education Technology. She was also a guest reviewer of Beyond Behavior and Learning Disabilities and Quarterly Journal. She is currently a reviewer of conference proposals for the Council for Learning Disabilities and National Youth at Risk
