Dr. Julie Auger

Biography

"Described as possessing “a gorgeous voice” (Broadway World), soprano Julie Auger, DMA, is a performer and dedicated voice pedagogue whose teaching emphasizes healthy, expressive, and sustainable singing. She integrates movement-based pedagogy, breath energy, and musical honesty to help students develop both technical freedom and artistic authenticity.

 

Dr. Auger regularly teaches music appreciation, lyric diction, vocal pedagogy, and the history of musical theatre, and maintains a vibrant private voice studio working with singers across classical, musical theatre, and contemporary commercial styles. Her doctoral research at The University of South Carolina explored the impact of ballet training on singing performers, enriching her interdisciplinary approach that unites voice science, body awareness, and artistry.

 

Dr. Auger has appeared with Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, originating the role of Mulan in Disney’s When You Wish: A Celebration of the Disney Song Book, and premiered the role of Julia Howe in James Vernon’s opera A Porcelain Doll. Additional roles include Pamina in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte (Opera at USC), Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas (Nazareth Opera), and a national children’s opera tour with FBN Productions in The Red Song Bird by Zach Redler and Marquita Lister. She is also a Concerto Aria Competition winner at Oklahoma Baptist University and has been featured at the OK Mozart Music Festival.

 

Dr. Auger holds a Bachelor of Music in Voice Performance from Oklahoma Baptist University, a Master of Music in Performance and Pedagogy from Nazareth University, and a Doctor of Musical Arts in Voice Performance from The University of South Carolina. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of singers and teaching artists while fostering a positive, rigorous, and creatively engaging studio environment."
