Mr. DAKOTA T.J. CARLSON

Biography

Mr. Dakota Carlson is the University Writing Center Coordinator for Claflin University and currently teaches various sections of ENGL 101 (Composition I) and ENGL 102 (Composition II). Mr. Carlson hails from a small town just outside of Quincy, IL. His passions within the Humanities include film, literature, rhetoric, and writing studies. One of his major goals is to assist students in the journey of discovering their own academic/writing identities and promote an openness to the wonderful world of English and the Humanities.

Mr. Carlson received a BA in English in 2017 from Western Illinois University with minors in Film and Creative Writing. Additionally, Mr. Carlson received an endorsement in Journalism and has worked as a freelance opinions’ column journalist for the Western Courier in Macomb, IL. He received an MA in English in 2019 from Western Illinois University where he worked as a Teaching Assistant and Tutor Training Coordinator for the Western Illinois University Writing Center (Macomb campus). He has taught Rhetoric, Composition, and Research Writing for Quincy University and Carl Sandburg College.
