School of Humanities and Social Sciences

Claflin's School of Humanities and Social Sciences offers students the ability to study a wide range of academic disciplines including English, history, mass communications, music, religion as well as the oldest art program in the state of South Carolina. You'll gain analytical, critical and reflective thinking skills through our six versatile programs while gaining excellent preparation for a career or graduate study.

Flexible Class Schedules

In addition to our daytime program, we also offer an evening program for students who desire to start or finish a college degree while working full-time. We offer a major in Criminal Justice through The Center for Professional and Continuing Studies.

Career Preparedness

We offer programs that will produce versatile and qualified students who are prepared to get jobs, enter graduate school and serve as leaders and agents of change. Career choices for graduates of the school include art, criminal justice, journalism, law, politics, music, teaching, counseling, religion, philosophy, research and teaching careers.
