Claflin's innovative Visionary Leadership Institute, the first of its kind on a university campus, was created to fulfill our mission of educating visionaries with a global perspective.
It's not enough to be smart or capable to be a difference maker in today's changing world; you have to be extraordinary. At Claflin, we strongly believe that every person has the potential to be extraordinary. That's why we dedicate ourselves to the development of visionary leaders who will have the confidence to lead through ambiguity, the skills to solve real-world problems and the understanding to be able to inspire others.
The idea of visionary leadership is in our DNA. Our philosophy and our educational approach are built upon the concept of recognizing your unique potential as a student here and giving you the tools to be able to create your own path and to guide others in making the world a better place. The Visionary Leadership Institute
The goal of the VLI is to ensure that all students develop their visionary leadership skills and knowledge. The VLI integrates visionary leadership concepts into every course; created a minor in Visionary Leadership Studies; generates original scholarship on visionary leadership; provides a robust program of leadership skill development through clubs and organizations, athletics, performing arts, Greek Life, and community service; sponsors a Visionary-in-Residence each semester; and instills a lifelong commitment to visionary leadership into all Claflin graduates.
The Leadership Inventory
Embedded in the core curriculum of Claflin University, the Leadership Inventory assesses your skills across a range of categories including and related to leadership. Using your results, we will point you toward resources designed to enhance your performance in future tests with the ultimate goal of maximizing your leadership potential.
