"I am very excited about everything I accomplished at Claflin. I came to Claflin on an academic scholarship. I did not come here expecting to become a national champion but working hard, training hard, and doing my best enabled me to excel," said Fairweather, a first-generation graduate.

Trisana graduated Summa Cum Laude with a cumulative 4.0 GPA with a bachelor's in business administration (concentration in accounting). She was Claflin's first-ever NCAA Division II national champion and All-American in track in the 200 meters.

Trisana graduated Summa Cum Laude and achieved a 4.0 cumulative GPA. She was a member of the Alice Carson Tisdale Honors College and received a Presidential Academic Excellence Awards at Claflin's 2018 Commencement Convocation.

"The word about Claflin is out in our country. People know about this university, and I wanted to be part of what is happening. Claflin provided me with the foundation that enabled me to do research. 

I took advantage of all Claflin had to offer that prepared me for my next steps.”

Okoronkwo graduated ---- with a 3.87 GPA and a bachelor’s degree in computer science and a minor in cybersecurity. graduated with a bachelor's degree in computer science with a minor in cybersecurity. He was also a member of the Alice Carson Tisdale Honors College.

“I was very shy when I arrived at Claflin. However, I now have Claflin Confidence. I am ready for the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. I have grown since I began my Claflin journey, and I am looking forward to the next chapter and the start of my professional career.  My career goal is to be a venture capitalist, so I want to learn more about finance and investments. Mokaya is from Nairobi, the capital and largest city of Kenya.  Hillary earned a bachelor's in business and administration with a concentration in finance.

"Claflin provided me the opportunity to work in the biology department as a research assistant with Dr. Nick Panasik.  He taught us to explore new methodologies and techniques to solve problems. As a researcher, you expect to be challenged by other researchers, which creates a great teaching and learning environment.   My honors college thesis was related to one of his undergraduate research projects: Alternative Production of Lactose-Free Milk for Lactose Intolerant People: Enzyme Redesign.

“It feels good to be a part of Claflin’s history.  We did not know what to expect. We had no idea everyone would be so friendly and treat us so well. I had a lot of opportunities at Claflin that I may not have received at a bigger institution. I have more access to the lab which is really important if you are going to graduate school.  At a bigger institution, it is more difficult because so many other students are competing for time in the lab to conduct research.”

Shree Kushwaha and Prayas Timalsina made history when they received their degrees during the 145th Claflin University Commencement Ceremony in 20XX. They represented the first students from Nepal to graduate from Claflin.  Kushwaha and Timalsina were among the 13 students from Nepal who were enrolled at Claflin in the 2014-15 academic year.  All 13 were members of the Alice Carson Tisdale Honors College.

“Claflin gave us a quality education and an opportunity to meet people from different backgrounds and cultures. It’s true – Claflin is not just a university.  When you go to school here you become part of the Claflin family. “We were treated like VIPs when we first arrived. So many students were asking about Nepal and our culture. They really like seeing us displaying the colors representing our country.  It really made us feel special.  “Claflin will always mean family to us.  We understand that Claflin wants us to be leaders wherever we go.  I will always remember –To whom much is given – much is expected. We will spread the word about Claflin. Perhaps one day we will have an alumni association in Nepal.”
