Claflin University hosted the CIAA Roadshow at the WVM Fine Arts Center to prepare for the conference tournament in Baltimore in February.
Events included a raffle with a PS5 as prize.
One of the employees at the CIAA roadshow said, “You can take a picture of a Coke Zero Sugar and you can enter the raffle and you can win a prize."
Attendees also had a basketball option, shooting hoops just for the experience. And there were other tables, such as the one with the U.S. Army.
"I went to the CIAA Roadshow myself and figured out what the roadshow/block party was all about. So basically it is to prepare for the big event at the end of February that will take place in Baltimore,” one Claflin student said.
The Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association, of which Claflin is a member, is the nation’s oldest historically Black athletic conference. In 2024, the CIAA marks the 50th anniversary of NCAA Division II.
The Food Lion 2024 CIAA Men’s and Women’s Championship Basketball Tournament takes place Feb. 26-March 3 at CFG Bank Arena in Baltimore. This year marks the 79th Anniversary of the tournament and the CIAA’s fourth year in Baltimore.
Fans are invited to “Meet Us in Baltimore” to enjoy 26 basketball showdowns, Fan Fest, step shows, parties, Career Expo, Education Day, A-list performances and so much more.
As part of the CIAA’s multi-year partnership with ESPN, all 26 games will be broadcast exclusively on ESPN+ (https://plus.espn.com/) with the championship games also being shown on ESPNU.
