Claflin volleyball has ‘sisterhood bond’

It is fall 2023 and the Claflin University volleyball team is back for another season.
The previous year's record left the team's standing at 12-10 overall and 6-9 in the CIAA. The new season began Aug. 31 in the Edwards Davis Gymnasium at Salem University with the Lady Panthers winning 3-0 for their first victory.
Some of the Lady Panthers share their hopes for the season and team goals.
“The team has grown since last year. We have our moments, but we have a sisterhood bond and team goals are getting the championship ring, holding each other accountable and giving 100% every day,” said Kaitlin Ham, a sophomore from Orangeburg.
Kaitlin's freshman season ended with her having played in 20 out of 22 matches.
Transfer student Jaide Holliday from Fayetteville, N.C. said, “The team and culture have been very welcoming to all newcomers this season. I know I can count on Coach Chymaine Guinyard and team captains on and off the court.
“The preseason poll placed us at sixth and I am ready to show everybody that Claflin University has more to offer.”
So far Holliday has a record of 4 kills, 6 digs and 6 blocks, and she scored 7 points in the opening match.
