Kristen Hubbard
Kristen Hubbard, a graduating senior from Atlanta, is closing her chapter at Claflin University with more than a degree — she’s leaving with a legacy.
As a human performance major, former basketball player and a passionate advocate for youth empowerment through sports and education, Kristen has turned every challenge into a stepping stone toward success.
With a full-time job secured after graduation, she’s proof that purpose and preparation go hand in hand.
Set to graduate in May 2025, Kristen played for Claflin’s women’s basketball team, completed a hands-on practicum with the university’s spring athletics programs and stood out as a leader on campus.
After graduation, she will begin her career at a Georgia-based performance and wellness center, working directly with athletes and youth clients to promote long-term health and development.
“Claflin taught me how to show up for myself, and for others,” Kristen said. “Now I get to take what I’ve learned and do that in the real world — not just with athletes, but with anyone chasing a better version of themselves.”
Kristen’s athletic experience sharpened her leadership skills and ignited her passion for helping others reach their full potential.
As a key player on the basketball team, she inspired her teammates through her focus and discipline. That same mindset guided her through her practicum, where she helped design training strategies and supported student-athletes’ performance and recovery efforts.
“I advocate for youth -- especially young girls -- who don’t always see someone who looks like them in leadership or athletic roles,” Kristen said. “Sports taught me confidence, teamwork and how to lead. I want to give that same opportunity to the next generation, because it can change the way they see themselves and their future.”
Long-term, Kristen hopes to start her own youth sports mentorship program, combining athletic training with educational workshops and leadership development.
“She brings heart, hustle and vision to everything she touches,” said a worker at MUSC Orangeburg. “Kristen is someone you remember — not just because she performs, but because she lifts others up along the way.”
From the courts of Claflin to communities across Georgia, Kristen Hubbard is stepping into her purpose with her signature motto leading the way: “Try Kristen.”
With a heart for the youth and a mind for progress, she’s not just graduating, she’s building a path for others to follow.
