As she gears up for graduation in spring 2026, Claflin Student Government Association President Kamille Whaley reflects on her leadership journey fueled by service, connection and growth.

Whaley, known for her connection and dedication to students, leaves Claflin with a legacy rooted in purpose.

Whaley discovered her passion to be a student leader as an orientation leader for two consecutive years. “Being an orientation leader taught me that leadership is about showing up,” she said.

During the 2024-25 academic school year, Whaley served as the Student Government Association chief of staff, a role that deepened her understanding of student leadership and campus operations.

“Leading behind the scenes helped me grow into the leader I am today,” she said.

Now, as SGA president, Whaley has focused on transparency, student mental health, as well as stronger communication.

“My goal has always been to make every student feel valued,” she said.

Students across campus say her leadership is defined as purposeful.

“Kamille always shows up not only for the administration, but the student body,” said senior Joshua Williams, the 23rd Mister Claflin.

As Whaley gears up for a life after Claflin, she has secured a job opportunity in the field of marketing at TD SYNNEX, a fortune 500 company.

“I want my next chapter in life to align with what I’ve worked so hard for, a BS in marketing,” Whaley said.

Whaley hopes her legacy will encourage students after her to become student leaders and serve with passion.

“Leadership isn’t about perfection, it's about showing up,” she said.

Her next chapter begins soon, but her impact on the Claflin family will always be present for years to come.
