Claflin University is thrilled to announce the 2025 Nissan of Orangeburg Celebrity Soirée and Paws Up Golf Classic, a two-day celebration of Panther Pride, community connection, and athletic excellence.
The event takes place on Thursday and Friday, July 10–11, and officially kicks off the 2025–2026 season for Claflin Athletics. This year’s event will be made more unforgettable by the participation of film and television star James Moses Black and six NFL legends—Chris Canty, Ben Coates, NaShan Goddard, Dwayne Harper, Robert Porcher and Erik Williams—whose presence will elevate the energy and engagement throughout the two days.
The Celebrity Soirée, a vibrant cocktail party featuring chef-curated hors d’oeuvres, signature cocktails, and live entertainment by Moses Smith and The Promise Land Band, takes place at 6:30 p.m., July 10, in the Claflin University Student Center Ballroom. The excitement continues at 9:00 a.m., Friday, July 11, at Wyboo Golf Club in Manning, S.C., with the Paws Up Golf Classic, an 18-hole tournament that includes breakfast, lunch, contests, and camaraderie on the course.
“The Celebrity Soirée and Paws Up Golf Classic are not just exciting events—they're a vital part of how we build a stronger future for Claflin Athletics,” said Tony O’Neal, Claflin University’s Director of Athletics. “Our scholar-athletes work tirelessly in the classroom and in competition, and this annual summer gathering is an ideal opportunity for our supporters to rally around them to ensure they have the resources they need to succeed.”
Funds raised from the event will directly support scholarships and academic resources for Claflin’s student-athletes—exceptional young men and women who exemplify leadership, discipline, and excellence both on the field and in the classroom. This year’s fundraising goal is $50,000.
