Claflin University will mark a historic milestone with the groundbreaking
ceremony for its new Biotechnology and Innovation Center on
Friday, March 20, at 12:30 p.m. The event will take place on Goff Avenue
near the High Rise Residential Hall.
This transformative project represents a significant investment in Claflin's
commitment to academic excellence, scientific advancement, and student success.
The Biotechnology and Innovation Center will serve as a hub for cutting-edge
research, hands-on learning, and interdisciplinary collaboration — positioning
Claflin students at the forefront of emerging fields in science, technology,
and innovation.
University leadership, faculty, students, community partners, and special
guests will gather to celebrate the beginning of construction on a facility
designed to expand opportunities in biotechnology and related disciplines.
The center will support innovative teaching methods, research initiatives,
and partnerships that prepare students to lead in a rapidly evolving global
workforce.
This groundbreaking symbolizes more than the start of construction — it
reflects Claflin University's continued commitment to Elevation and
Transformation. The Biotechnology and Innovation Center will empower our
students with the tools, knowledge, and experiences needed to shape the
future of science and innovation.
The new facility is expected to enhance Claflin's academic offerings while
strengthening its role as a leader among historically Black colleges and
universities (HBCUs) in advancing STEM education.
Parking for the event will be available in Lot 10 (Gym parking lot).
